Pairs with: The Sellwood Bridge, 1,971 feet long with 75 feet of vertical clearance above the Willamette river. Portland’s first fixed spanned bridge is also one of its most recently controversial. Critics argue it has reached the end of its useful life while others would like to see an alternative to its demolition proposed. According to the Sellwood Bridge Project’s FAQ it is the busiest bridge in Portland due to its isolation from other Willamette River crossings. The project has yet to reach a definitive conclusion.
